Pilot Scheme Under the Pilot Scheme (s), the cost of pilot projects (new innovative trial activities) done by MSMEs working in Knitwear and Apparel would be fully or partially supported by SIDBI under its BDS Implementation Project. The pilots can be in the area of trying a new technology, a new management idea or training of staff or any other innovative activity like knowledge dissemination.
Need of the Scheme
MSMEs and Consultants are generally hesitant to undertake new and untried ventures on their own due to risk perception even if the projects are viable technically and profitable for the business. So such interventions happen on a low scale without any external support because of the reason that the stakeholders are generally not convinced of the business value of their initiative.
Benefits and Impact of the Scheme
In order to kickstart such activities the project provides funds to some extent depending upon the requirement and availability of funds. For carrying out such pilots required for business development and competitiveness, the project office also comes in as a facilitating agent in connecting to the right service providers/consultants/suppliers. The objective of the pilots is that taking a lesson from the pilot. Replications of the same activity may take place in the cluster as a development practice.
The pilots need to have strong demonstration effect and the benefits arising from the pilots must be need-based and assimilated within the cluster community so that replications of pilots are possible on a large scale.
